Russ Jones (b.1990) is a conceptual Artist living and working in London, UK

His practice explores the malleability of identity through freedom and control.

Russ’ work creates environments that redefine the rules of the surrounding space, using painting, performance and conceptual objects and installations to physically and psychologically influence participant behaviour.

His work touches on a broad range of topics, including spirituality, nature, war, identity, technology, materiality, death and beauty. Russ employs ethnographic research and interviews to better understand the situations he attempts to create, and is currently conducting practical research into esotericism and materiality to better understand the border between consensus reality, memory and energy.

Prior to this Russ led counter terrorism and counter insurgency operations for the FCO and British Army. He holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southampton where he was an Academic Scholar and an MBA from London Business School and UC Berkeley where he was a Talent Scholar.

Russ shares his ongoing research in a weekly newsletter here.
